YKK Lumina SliderThe YKK Group, world’s largest zipper manufacturer has developed a super lightweight aluminium slider, reducing the weight of its Lumina zipper by 50 per cent, along with the latest fastening solution.

The Lumina zipper range by YKK comprises of aluminium alloy elements and is known as the ‘lightweight’ series. According to YKK, the zipper is strong enough to fit a large size twelve chain, yet durable and light enough to complement a diverse range of leather goods products.

Using quality aluminium with fully polished elements, the Lumina aluminium chain and sliders are an optimal combination of lightweight and excellent corrosion resistance, says the Japanese company.

In addition, YKK has also unveiled its latest fastening solution: a stud that allows reversible use and so reduces the number of items in the application. It also reduces the need for multiple fabric layers to cover the parts, thereby eliminating thickness at its closure. The stud can be applied to small leather goods, as well as detachable linings in outerwear.

Founded in 1934, YKK develops and produces a range of fastening solutions, including zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, fabric tapes and plastic products, snaps and buttons for all fashion applications and leather goods.
