Atiqul Islam resigns from Alliance Board

Following media reports last week about BGMEA having decided to quit Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety Board, Atiqul Islam, President, BGMEA has delivered the final blow and resigned from the Alliance Board. The decision was taken since being a part of the Alliance Board would have meant abiding by the agreement according to which any of the Board Members cannot talk against the Alliance.

“The BGMEA will not stay in the steering committee of the Alliance. If the BGMEA stays at the committee, it cannot talk against the Alliance as per the agreement,” quoted a leading Bangladeshi Daily, earlier this week. The development implies that currently, BGMEA holds no representation on the Alliance Board.
