“It is always nice to capture the entire Indian market but honestly speaking I am happier to see our product do so well in eastern India,” says CP Singh, Owner of SM Knitwear. His vision of knowing ‘what you are good at’ and ‘how to sustain it’ is what makes him the leader. Based in Jamshedpur, the company today covers the entire state of Bihar, apart from dominating the market of Chattisgarh and Orissa.

SM Knitwear is a leading manufacturer and supplier of school uniforms as well as corporate uniforms. In addition, it manufactures T-shirts for malls and also specializes in making trousers, jackets and track suits. With an annual turnover of 5 crores, the company produces around 2,000 pieces per day.

Although Japanese machines are better in quality, Singh feels Chinese machines have an edge as these are cost-effective. “We have around 60 machines and all of them are from Juki, Jack and Brother. They are economical and good in quality as well,” avers Singh.
