The Footwear Distributors and Retailers of America (FDRA) launched China wage map to aid footwear sourcing and compliance professionals in their businesses. According to Mike Jeppesen, President of Global Operations at Wolverine Worldwide, the Chinese footwear manufacturing industry is shifting dramatically and companies sourcing from there now have to understand and address new cost structures and compliance challenges as they work with more and more factories in inland China. The wage map will help provide transparency on wage issues all across China enabling sourcing directors and compliance managers get a clearer picture of wage rate trends. The initiative was sponsored by the global independent safety science company UL.
