Following the Euro devaluation and steep duties affixed by Turkey, Bangladesh’s apparel exports to the Turkey have plummeted by 21.58 per cent last fiscal year. According to the data released by Bangladesh’s Export Promotion Bureau, apparels worth US $ 488.08 million were shipped to Turkey during FY 2014-15 from US $ 622.37 million in the previous year. Apparel exports from Bangladesh to Turkey have enjoyed preference in the past with a zero-duty structure. The duty structure however was revised last year to 17.5 per cent. The duty charges were steeped by the Turkish Government to protect its local produce.
