Global textile chemicals specialists Archroma is going to present a collaborative project and a prototype collection – “Roadmap to Rational Denim” – at The Kingpins Show in Amsterdam on April 13-14.
This project is being unveiled by four leading companies in the denim supply chain – Archroma, and Garmon Chemicals, fibre producer Lenzing and denim fabric producer Royo – contributed their expertise in a particular part of the manufacturing process to provide a working guideline for more sustainable jeans production. The project includes a prototype collection, based on the most efficient use of resources.

Archroma’s contribution in this was its experience in eco-advanced innovative colors and effects, and its multi-awarded Advanced denim dyeing technology.

Considering the high quantity of water required to produce hundreds of pairs of jeans everyday, it is unthinkable to conserve water on a monthly basis.

The idea for this project is to find the most efficient possible use of resources, especially water, in every step of the denim garments production process – from fibre to finish.

Supported by Kingpins, these four companies joined forces to showcase the most gorgeous and most functional denim fashion wear created with utmost care for the flora and fauna, and the planet at large.

The fruit of their collaboration will be displayed in a dedicated space, and explained in more details during a conference gathering speakers from all four companies.

“With growing urbanization of our planet and lifestyle, we see consumers looking to connect back to nature and to do what is in their power to protect it,” Andrew Olah, founder and organizer of The Kingpins Shows, commented. “Denim being what you wear in- and outdoors, it always had this special connection with nature. This is why Kingpins is proud to support Archroma, Garmon, Lenzing and Royo in a project that shows that sustainability is not a boundary, quite the opposite: it is a source of inspiration and desire for fashion with soul and care,”

According to Miguel Sanchez, Head of Special Dyes, Textile Specialties, Archroma, “At Archroma, we continuously challenge the status quo in the deep belief that we can make our industry sustainable. The message that “Rational Denim” intends to transmit is that, in denim and outwear fashion, creativity without sustainability no longer makes sense. The other way around doesn’t either.”
