Business worth Rs. 750 crore generated at the 65th National Garment Fair recently held in Mumbai (India). The garment fair further generated order queries of around Rs. 1,400 crore for the exhibitors.
Apart from local brands, some of the well-known apparel exporters also exhibited at the trade fair to enter the domestic market. As festive season in India always comes with a big opportunity for domestic brands and manufacturers, the overwhelming reaction to the July edition of the garment fair hints at a positive time ahead.
Organised by The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI), the garment trade fair noticed a good response from retailers, chain stores and e-commerce players. Even the organisers of the show did not expect such a huge response in view of the continuous protests and strikes against GST (Goods and Services Tax). The fair was attended by around 48,000 visitors, who explored the latest collections (covering the entire range of garments and accessories) of 822 exhibitors from the apparel manufacturing hubs of India. As usual, cotton-based fabric and bright colours dominated the collections showcased.
To create awareness and draw larger visitation at the 65th National Garment Fair, the CMAI promoted the show on various social media platforms, which seem to have worked for them.
The CMAI has also announced dates for the 66th National Garment Fair, which will take place from January 29 to January 30, 2018. However, the venue for the event is yet to be finalised. Stay tuned for updates!
